What Do Front-Door Colors Mean?

When you first walk up to a home you’re interested in purchasing one of the first things you notice is the front door. The front door is not only an entrance for the home but also provides a glimpse into the homeowner’s personality. Front doors are the 1st impression a home makes to its future new homeowner and its guests. The color of a front door holds significant value because colors drive our emotions. Ever seen the color of a front door you didn’t like? How did it make you feel? From that moment, what were your initial assumptions about that home? In a subtle manner, front door impression sets the stage for how a buyer will view your home, as well as your guests. So let’s take a few front-door color examples.

Yellow

  • Take a moment and look at the yellow door in the image below? What thoughts come to mind? Do you think the homeowner is confident about their personality, and there’s a strong possibility they’re an outgoing, welcoming person? What would you expect to see once you walk-in, other bright colors? You could say individualism would probably best suit this homeowner’s personality type. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Red

  • Now let’s take a look at the red door below. Do London, English-type undertones come to mind? How about class, sophistication, a sense of status? In some cultures, a red door also means good luck and in Scotland, homeowners paint their front door RED when they pay off their mortgage. ๐Ÿพ

Black-Brown (Dark Stained)

  • Ever feel that when you approach a dark stained door (i.e. black, brown) you need to speak with confidence?  Dark stain doors communicate and project an aura of strength, power, and authority. Blue doors are also associated with assuring its homeowner, their home is a retreat amidst a chaotic world. ๐Ÿ–
